01
Problem Statement
Shopping across Indonesian marketplaces (Tokopedia, Shopee, Lazada) is fragmented and time-consuming. Users have to open multiple apps, manually compare prices, and keep track of wishlist items across different platforms with no unified view.
Price drops, flash sales, and restocks are easy to miss, meaning shoppers often pay more than they need to, or lose out on items they wanted simply because they weren't tracking them in the right place at the right time.
02
Solution
Teman Belanja aggregates product listings from multiple marketplaces, letting users search once and compare results side by side: price, ratings, seller reputation, and shipping cost all in a single view.
Users can save items to a unified wishlist and set price alerts, getting notified the moment a product drops below their target price, without needing to check each platform manually.
Cross-platform Search
One search query surfaces results from all major Indonesian marketplaces simultaneously.
Price Comparison
Side-by-side pricing with historical trends to help users make informed decisions.
Price Alerts
Set a target price and get notified when any marketplace hits it.
03
Visual Language
The visual direction is warm and approachable, reflecting the familiar, everyday nature of shopping. The name "Teman Belanja" (Shopping Friend) informed the tone: friendly, helpful, and trustworthy.
The color palette draws from warm greens and teals, evoking freshness and savings, with high-contrast typography ensuring readability across dense product listing grids.
04
User Research
Interviews and diary studies with frequent online shoppers in Indonesia revealed a consistent pattern: users habitually open 3–5 marketplace apps before making a purchase decision. The mental overhead of comparison was a top pain point.
Key insight: most users weren't looking for the absolute cheapest option. They were looking for confidence that they weren't missing a significantly better deal. The design solution focuses on building that confidence quickly.
05
Results
Usability testing showed that participants using Teman Belanja reached a confident purchase decision in significantly less time compared to their usual multi-app process. The unified comparison view removed the need to switch contexts repeatedly.
The price alert feature was highlighted as the most valuable differentiator. Several participants noted it would change how they approach high-consideration purchases like electronics and appliances.
